The Casiodoro de Reina Bible, also known as the "Bear Bible," was published in Basel, Switzerland, on September 28, 1569. The cover of this work features an image of a bear standing next to a tree. It is a direct translation from the original Hebrew and Greek texts.

In addition to the original text and Latin versions, Casiodoro de Reina consulted the previous works of Valdés (such as his Psalms in Spanish), Enzinas, and Pérez de la Pineda, as well as the Ferrariense Bible during the translation process.

In his 1569 translation, Reina incorporated the latest advancements in biblical studies. For instance, he adopted the division of the New Testament into verses, a format that had been introduced in print just a few years earlier (1550). He expressed regret over not being able to consider a new Peshita publication that arrived too late for his work.

This work has undergone several revisions, starting with the first revision by Reina's friend Valera and continuing with many others. The most recent revision was by the United Bible Societies in 1995. It is now known as the Reina-Valera Bible.
